Abstract
Elisa Felleti Cevallos, Programs & Records Assistant in the Office of Admissions & Student Services, received the Louella Sturdy Leadership Award on December 1, 2017 at the Law School’s holiday lunch for faculty and staff.
In presenting the award to Felleti Cevallos, Mya Rimon, Assistant Dean, Students, (pictured on the right) said Felleti Cevallos has shown “great leadership and dedication in her 13-plus years at Osgoode. We had many letters of support for her from students, faculty and staff alike and everyone was unanimous in their view that this award is long overdue.”
Among the many glowing comments about Felleti Cevallos were references to her “dedication … going above and beyond and prioritizing student needs above her own … constantly calm, very helpful, informative … very kind and charming, compassionate … she provides exceptional leadership and direction to front office and shows patience while providing ongoing direction, guidance while maintaining her good humour … She is a true team player and is always willing to help, no matter what the problem of the day is.”
The Louella Sturdy Leadership Award is given annually to a Law School staff member who has made an outstanding contribution through his or her leadership and teamwork with members of the Osgoode community.
The award was created in honour of Louella Sturdy who joined Osgoode as general secretary to the full-time faculty in 1948. She was appointed Registrar of the Law School in 1957 and continued in that role until her retirement in 1991. During her 43 years of service, she faithfully and selflessly dedicated herself to the Law School.
Sturdy was a consummate professional who demonstrated a real affection for every student and colleague with whom she worked. It was through her personal qualities, standards of excellence, as well as her grace of character that she created an atmosphere of collegiality and cooperation that significantly advanced the mission of the Law School.
