Abstract

The article describes the authors' exploratory research into the elements of expert performance in legal writing. It notes that the research study is intended to provide a description of increasingly sophisticated writing competencies that can be expected of lawyers as they progress through their professions. It reviews the research literature on the transition to work from law school as these new professionals learn how to write in the workplace.
