Location: Room 519 @ York Research Tower

In what is being hailed as the beginning of an international educational collaboration between world-class law schools, Osgoode Hall Law School is hosting a three-day conference from October 25 to 27 with faculty from Jindal Global Law School in India.

The conference entitled “Global North and Global South Perspectives on Transnational Governance: An Indian-Canadian Conversation,” will bring together globally-minded scholars with expertise in related fields of law, but who understand their fields from different vantage points rooted in their South Asian or North American experience. One the central aims is to facilitate collaborative research that bridges North-South perspectives on transnational governance, and contributes to knowledge about Canada-India legal relations.

Given the significant transnational dimension of the conference, and the themes explored – ranging from “Globalization, Development, and Legal Responses to Vulnerability” to “Transnational Corporate Governance” and “The Role of Judicial and Executive Power in Delimiting Rights and Responsibilities” – the Nathanson has provided seed funding to this highly worthwhile endeavour, co-organized by Professors Lisa Philipps, Poonam Puri, and Acting Director François Tanguay-Renaud.
